This course will give the
new PC user all the confidence and skill necessary to
successfully understand and use the Microsoft Windows XP
operating system as well as the fundamentals of two of
today’s most popular software applications - Microsoft
Word XP and Microsoft Excel XP. The student will be
challenged by the incorporated lab work. Keyboarding
practice is required daily. Students will learn how to

Windows XP & Intro to PC’s
Students will learn the
benefits of working with personal computers and of using
Windows to manage information and run programs. This
course provides a broad information base to students who
will learn to create a document by using WordPad,
organize the contents of their hard drive by using
Windows Explorer, create an efficient work environment
by using the Control Panel and Accessibility programs,
perform a variety of media tasks by using the Help and
Support Center and Media Player, maintain their system
by using My Computer and the Recycle Bin and find
information on the Internet by using Internet Explorer.

Students will learn the
basic skills necessary to use Word. Upon completion of
this course, students will be able to create a basic
document, edit documents by locating and modifying text,
format text, format paragraphs, use Word tools to make
documents more accurate, add tables to a document, add

page setup and it’s overall appearance.

database terminology in Access and to normalize tables

data, create and use queries, create forms and reports.

The student will learn how

organize and summarize information, and by enhancing
data layout and working with report pagination, create,

Students will put existing
data into custom designed tables, compact database, use
various techniques to summarize data, create and revise
basic Access macros, create macros that require data
entry in certain fields, automate data entry in others,
use advanced features to enhance forms and reports,
distribute a report to non-Access users and use Office
Links to use Access data in other Office programs.
Students will learn the
fundamentals of using Outlook to send, receive, and act
on mail messages, appointments, events, meetings, tasks,
and contacts. Students will be able to identify the
components of the Outlook environment and compose and
respond to a message, use folders to manage mail,
schedule appointments, schedule meetings, manage
contacts and contact information, create and edit tasks
and create and edit notes. In intensive studies, both
Introduction and Intermediate subjects are covered.
Students will assign and track tasks, customize the
Outlook environment, sort, find and color-code items in
the Outlook mailbox and calendar, personalize mail by
using stationery and signatures, organize outlook items
by grouping, setting rules, and applying conditional
formatting. Use contacts to share, link, and
communicate information, save and archive mail.

Students will learn to
create a project plan file and enter task information,
to create a work breakdown structure by organizing tasks

Students will learn how to
exchange project plan data with other applications,
update a project plan, create custom reports and re-use
existing project plan information.
This course is designed
for students who have little or no experience using
Microsoft Publisher, but have a basic understanding of
how to use their computer. Want to make newsletters,
flyers and brochures easily? Students will learn to
create customized documents from scratch. Students will
create a multi-page document, import and format text and
graphics, and create the document's layout.
As you begin this course,
you should have the skills you need to work with
Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft
Word. This includes creating and editing documents that
contain text, tables, and images. Now you’re ready to
use a graphical application to create Web sites and Web
pages. In this course, you will use Microsoft FrontPage
2003 to design, develop, and deploy Web sites that can
be viewed on any Web-enabled computer around the world.
